Healthy Aging for Men (and Women Too!)

Go Back

“Aging is an inevitable process. I surely wouldn’t want to grow younger. The older you become, the more you know; your bank account of knowledge is much richer.” – William Holden

It’s said that knowledge is power. Which is true. But, what’s even truer is the idea that knowledge in action is proof of that power.

As we all age, we realize there are things we know, things we don’t know and things we’ll never know. In honor of June not only holding Father’s Day, but also Men’s Health Week, we’ve gathered a few things we know “for guys” that will help raise that metaphorical mental bank account.

Spend these healthy aging tips wisely…

01 Fuel up with family and friends

Having a strong network of friends or family is associated with longevity. Warding off loneliness and heart disease, do yourself a favor and be in contact with people you love and trust on a daily basis.

02 Don’t avoid the doctor

From checking cholesterol to keeping your lungs in good shape and most definitely being proactive about your prostate, there are endless reasons to stay in frequent contact with your doctor. The best treatment is prevention.

03 Move your body and mind

It’s well known that if you stretch your body and mind, you retain the muscle memory to use it more in the future. But, there are so many things well known that we easily forget because life gets in the way. So, don’t forget to stretch your body and mind.

04 Keep an eye on what you consume

From food to fodder on the internet or television, what you eat and watch has an impact on your mood and motivation to get up every morning in a certain way. From sugar comas to sabotaging your own positive attitude, start to write down what you eat and even where you spend your “screen time.” Believe it or not, but sometimes the best way to change a habit is to see it in your own handwriting.

And, we’d feel remiss if we didn’t mention the last and most certainly not least tip…trying the Tour risk free for 30 days. If you’re looking for mobility assistance, the Tour is like nothing you’ve ever seen. We consider it the walker reinvented, but you might also consider it a healthy aging tip for a man (or woman) who walks tall with pride and dignity. Now that’s what we call healthy aging.

We’d love to hear from you in the comments or on Facebook + Twitter. Tell us what you do to stay healthy.
